Hello beloved readers! I was finally able to jump onto the nude palette band wagon so here I am today sharing my two cents about one of the most raved about products in the beauty blogosphere: theBalm
Nude'tude palette. Want to know what I think about it? Then please keep reading ^^
¡Hola queridas lectoras!
Let me start by saying that yes, it is worth the hype. This twelve neutral colour ensemble is of very good quality, the eyeshadows are buttery soft and offer the possibility of creating simple daytime looks as well as more sophisticated and complex smokey eyes for going out at night. The colours are mostly shimmery, it has three matte shades and a gorgeous glittery brown. They're long lasting even without any kind of primer or base, even the lightest colours. The packaging is made of very sturdy cardboard (you can use baby wipes to clean it), the lid is magnetized and it comes with a generous size mirror.
The first four shades are
highlighters that can, of course, also be used as all-over-the-lid colours (Snobby is the prettiest golden colour ever!), my only complaint is that I would have prefered if they had included here a light matte shade. One thing about Stand-offish is that it is almost too soft, if that's even a bad thing to say about an eyeshadow! Just don't press your brush too hard onto it.
The next four eyeshadows are the
taupes and browns. Nothing to complain about here, all colours are really beautiful, especially Selfish and Sophisticated, Seductive is the perfect bronze shade and Sultry is ideal to blend all of the other darker eyeshadows.
The final four colours are the
deeper shades. Serious is a matte black, very pigmented, Sleek is the most amazing chocolate brown, so deep that can also be used for lining the eyes, Sexy is a lovely maroon colour (the
NYX butt 'naked' palette has one that comes close to this one but is not as reddish) and Silly is the cherry on top of the cake, being a fabulous brown shade (that suits all eyes) and having tiny golden glitters, my favourite.
Do you need this palette in your arsenal? My verdict is 'yes' if you're into neutrals, and 'yes-yes' if you, like me, don't own the Lorac Pro which, judging by the swatches I've seen, is the only one that could hold a candle to this palette, the Nude'tude has less colours but it is some $$$ less expensive. For the longest time I wanted one of the UD Naked palettes, I'm over it. As I was writing this entry, the brand came out with a complete matte nine eyeshadow palette that paired with this one would be all you'd ever need to create neutral looks... now all I can think of is that
Meet Matt(e) Nude palette, damn it! LOL
LOL
para mi los primeros 4
ReplyDeleteI need this! I much prefer this to my naked palettes. I would love the Lorac Pro too but we don't get lorac in the uk :( x
ReplyDeleteHmmm....So I totally want this now!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely don't get why they always include a matte black when you only have shimmery colors! Srsly, it looks retarded to mix matte and shimmery colors and it makes me angry a lot. I wish they would sell the first four light colors separately I looove every single one of them!
ReplyDeleteHi, just droppin gin from teh followers to friends blog hop, following now on GFC, looking forward to seeing you on my blog too hon. BTW love the background of your page, i get fed up of seeing all the pastel girly ones, this one is cool x

I have had my eye on this palette but owning both the Urban Decay Naked palettes, I haven't yet committed to purchasing it :p The shades look lovely though, especially the browns and taupes which I'm a total sucker for. Not sure I'd need that many highlighting shades in one palette though! But I am partial to shimmery shades over mattes so I do like this palette for that reason. I really want to get hold of the Lorac Pro Palette but unfortunately it's not available where I live :(
ReplyDeleteOh man...I would wear ALL of these colours and that's rare for me to say. Usually I don't buy palettes because only 3 or 4 colours jump out at me. Hope this brand ships to the US.
ReplyDeleteI want this because of Sexy and Sultry. Actually, I like all the shades. I want it xx
ReplyDeleteI'm such a sucker for nude palettes! Selfish & Stand-Offish instantly caught my eye. There is such a wonderful variety of shades I think I might have to go hunting for it ;) Great review Lau!
ReplyDeleteSon súper lindos.
ReplyDeleteReally? That's too bad. We'll if I could afford Lorac I'd have to buy it online, we don't get any high-end brands where I live : /
ReplyDeleteIf you like neutrals you'd really like this one.
ReplyDeleteWell, a matte black is always a good option to "tune down" the shimmer and to add depth to the looks. I love that there's actually a matte brown and a matte black, but to each its own I guess ^^
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks Zippo, I guess not all blogs can be crystal clear white, right? hehe ^^ thanks for dropping by xx
ReplyDeleteI would have been a lot happier with the gold and a light matte colour, but oh well. It really is a very good palette. I've seen swatches of the UD nakeds and they have too many similar colours, so when choosing which of the trendy neutrals I was going to get, this stood out to me the most. It is impossible to make everyone happy when it comes to neutral colours, so I guess that's why we get so many similar products. ^^ We're such hoarders LOL
ReplyDeleteThis brand is US based in California so you won't have a problem with shipping there ^^ And if you get it I hope you like it as much as I do : ) xx
ReplyDeleteThose two colours are beyond amazing! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks Rennie, glad you found it helpful. Stand-offish is gorgeous, it kinda has a duo chrome quality to it, you know, a bit of pink and a bit of gold ^^ xx
ReplyDeleteYay! These look great! I was thinking about getting this palette, but I think I have too many palettes for me to use lol
ReplyDeleteLOL I think palettes are like bags or shoes... one can never have too many ^^ xx
ReplyDeleteI would love to have this palette, but I have both Naked palettes PLUS the new Basics one, so it's probably a bad idea! I have a few theBalm palettes though and the eyeshadows are so soft and pigmented. Great purchase!
ReplyDeleteI guess your neutrals are very well covered ^^ I have several neutral palettes as well (my favourite being NYX Champagne & Caviar) but I love nude shades and you can never have enough... can you? haha xx
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing this palette for a long time, still not sure if I should get it but it looks pretty *_* thanks for your review! http://shuikaybb.blogspot.co.uk/xx
ReplyDeleteGlad the review was helpful Hazel ^^ If you have other neutral palettes then this would be more like a collectors item rather than a necessity, I didn't have a neutral high-end palette which is why I really wanted this one, but it's a splurge : /
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by xx
