A la Saint Patrick's {Tutorial}

Hola chicas! Just in time for St Patrick's Day, here's a tutorial using neon green eyeshadow and glitter. Whether you have brown eyes, such as yours truly, or not, I'm sure this look will make your eyes pop. Of course it's a bit bright and bold, but it's a special occasion so you can totally get away with it ^^ Hope you like it!

1- Apply a matte medium brown along the crease to help blend the other colours.
2- Use a white Jumbo pencil or cream eyeshadow as a base.
3- Pat a neon green all over the lid and blend it into the crease.
4- With the same base of before, create a thick line under the lower lashes.
5- Apply the neon green on top of the base.
6- Take a black eyeshadow and trace an outer V on the corner of the eye. Blend it well.
7- Tightline your entire eye.
8- Smudge the black a bit onto the lower lashes.
9- Line your upper lid with black and if it suits you, do a cat eye.
10- Now for the fun part, the glitter. I have a liquid glitter but if you have it loose, use a base first so it has something to adhere to. Apply it along the lower lash line, on top of the green eyeshadow.
11- Apply loads of mascara and false lashes if you feel like it
12- Highlight the brow bone, inner corner of the eye and Cupid's Bow.

13-To finish off the face, apply some orange blush on the apples of the cheeks.
14- Contour below the cheek bones, temples and side of the nose.
15- Use either a peachy/nude lipstick or a clear lip gloss.

Products used: Skin79 The Oriental BB Cream, NYX Concealer in a Jar in Light, Palladio Rice Powder in Translucent, NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk, Sleek Acid and V2 Darks palettes, MUA glitter liner in 08, MUG gel liner in Immortal, Clinique High Lengths mascara in Black, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer, Sleek blush in Lace (Crochet), NYX blush in Taupe and Jordana Squeeze n' Shine lip gloss in Clear. Brushes: Real Techniques.

Neon green can be pretty intimidating to use at first, but as you can see paired with black, or any subdued colour for that matter, rapidly transforms into a more wearable shade. If you don't wish to go nuts with a bright green, use a "friendlier" one (is that even a word? LOL, you know what I meant), such as Dragonfly from the Sleek V1 Brights palette or Fern from the V2 Darks palette, it will all depend on your mood. I adore glitter but you can totally skip it if you'd like, the makeup will still look pretty. Also, for the cheeks I went with orange/peach because I use pink all the time and this was a nice change for me. Feel free to use whatever shade you like. Green goes with hot pink, barbie pink, red and even mauve and plum, it is quite the versatile colour, isn't it?

BONUS - Some tips to enjoy doing this makeup even more: a) don't neglect applying the brown eyeshadow to the crease, trust me, it'll help you blend the main eyeshadow flawlessly; b) to apply the liquid glitter, first put a small amount on the back of you hand and then pick it up with the brush, if you use it directly from the tube you'll soon realize that too much or too little product is deposited and it ends up looking patchy and messy, you will have much more control if you pat it on than if you swipe; c) then, to remove the aforementioned glitter use almond oil on a cotton swab and gently rub it away to prevent it from getting into your eye.

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone! ~ Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh!

  18. You look stunning in green! Neon green looks so much more wearable than I thought it would. I don't have a problem with wearing neon green either way, but it looks a lot more subtle than I thought it would. The look is so beautiful, it makes me wish I had done a St. Patrick's inspired makeup look xxx
