MUA Undress Me Too palette {Review}

Hello my beloved dolls! Yup, I did it, I jumped on the MUA Cosmetics bandwagon and got some of their products to try, so much for the spend ban I guess : / Today I'd like to share with you my two cents on the highly raved, discussed and blogged about Undress Me Too palette, it's a rather long post but I'd really appreciate it if you kept reading ^^

Where do I start with this? Let's begin by taking a look at the palette and the swatches, shall we?.

I'd love to tell you nice things about this little array of twelve neutral colours, because it looks so pretty upon first looking at it, but the problem is I can't. The bad outweighs the good by too far so, I'm going to begin by saying: it's not worth the hype. I don't have any UD eyeshadows (many seem to compare this to the UD Naked 2 palette), but I do have The Balm Nudetude and Balm Jovi palettes and no, it's not even close to being high end. Heck is not even comparable to my adored NYX Champagne & Caviar or Bohemian Rhapsody palettes!!! I had to use a white eyeliner pencil to be able to swatch the colours you see above because they weren't showing up on me all that well, and even then with shades such as Naked, Lavish and Reveal I had to really go over them a few times for the colours I see in the pans to appear. I had to use brushes people, brushes! because the eyeshadows refused to cling onto my fingers and when they did, they didn't transfer onto my skin, they just stayed on my finger tips. Also, some shades don't swatch the same, such as Devotion, Fiery and Wink. Most colours lack pigmentation, are powdery and worst of all, they're hard to work with. Corrupt is awful, it's poorly pigmented and has a lot of fall out. The only two possitive things I can say about this product is that some of the metallic shades have rather nice pigmentation and that the palette is of a nice size. I travelled with it two weekends in a row and the lid is already scratched so packaging-wise, it's also of poor quality. One would say "for the price you paid, what were you expecting?" Well, I have to pay international shipping so no product I purchase is ever that cheap and, when everyone and their mother raves about something, I do expect it to be at least good. I can't say whether this is an isolated case, because I haven't tried the Undressed palette yet, which I also got, or if this is true for all their eyeshadows but I'm currently testing out their lip balms and glitter liners with much better results.

I lost count of how many blogs I read saying "don't bother with UD, these palettes are cheaper and better"; as a reader I feel like I can't fully trust what I read anymore because too many girls are "free-stuff-hungry" these days and they will give five stars to anything as long as a brand sends them products to try; also I feel ripped off as a customer because MUA retweets a lot of those bloggers rave reviews thus reinforcing this madness. I honestly got the Undressed and Undress Me Too palettes because everybody said that they were exact dupes for the UD Naked and Naked 2 ones and I've been horribly let down. Looking at the above swatches you might think that they're not that bad, but I had to use a white base, brushes and multiple layers to make them look like that. If only one of the reviews I read had been honest and told they used a primer too... I'm sorry this post ended with a bit of a rant, but I'm so disappointed, I really don't get this current beauty blogger "trend" of raving about products that are mediocre at best. Let's see how it goes with the Undressed palette later on.

Do you have this or other MUA palettes, what do you think about them? I'd really like to know.

PS: Regarding their customer service, I'm sorry to say that the MUA help desk is not so hot either. I wrote three e-mails asking them about shipping and other doubts, among which I asked if they sent a confirmation once the items were shipped out (so I could calculate more or less when it was due to arrive) and to this day I don't know if they do and I didn't get one or if they never send those out : / I had better luck with them on twitter though, they replied quite promptly that my order was in fact shipped out and provided me the exact date.

  1. I thought about buying MUA when I was in London but somehow, the packaging and everything looked just so cheap! I couldn't help myself so I didn't buy anything, lucky me! Although reviews on the internet are all about honesty and should help you chose the right product it definitely got much harder to find any good review among the internet .__." Hope your next buy will be worth the money and thanks for the honest review :)

  2. It's weird because I'm actually more disappointed at the bloggers more than I am of the brand : / You're welcome Sam, glad this was helpful for you, I really dislike investing in products that are of bad quality. I will continue to use it, probably carrying it around in my purse not caring whether it smashes or not I guess. Thanks for stopping by sweetie, I know how busy you are! ♥

  3. I have to say I agree with you...I have some of the MUA palettes and they could NEVER replace my UD ones! The pigmentation isn't quite as good, but if you're looking for a good deal, the MUA palettes will work just fine. The UD ones are MUCH better though. Sponsored posts are always tough to read because you don't know people's true feelings. I'm glad that with your review, there is at least ONE honest review! Kisses!

  4. I really hate doing "bad" reviews, I want to like all the products I buy, especially when they come highliy recommended, but when it's bad, it's bad and if I can help anyone save a penny then I'm up for that. I don't really know if all the reviews I read were sponsored, but I've sure been noticing a lot of girls raving about things that aren't worth it just to get a brand's attention, not cool : / Thanks for stopping by sweetie! xx

  5. I agree with you, love. Thank you for being so honest to your readers, that's what really counts. We all know we can trust your word, and a lot of others can't say the same for themselves xx

  7. Actually the colors in the palette are very pretty is a shame that reality is another. Unfortunately many times people do not give honest reviews of products. and I also read that these blades are made wonders of the 1000 I have an unopened MUA palette and really now feel some curiosity as I mind very much if these products are not good quality.

But I think of all the experiences you learn something, after your review I honestly do not spend money on this brand and I've found other brands of much better quality at a better price.

Although honestly the price is not as important to me as long as not too expensive as always the quality is good.

  10. Thanks Raimar, it really is a shame so many girls are giving good reviews to bad products. It's always nice when a product is cheap and of good quality at the same time but I'd rather pay a bit more and have a product I can use than pay USD 3 for something I can't. Glad you stopped by sweetie and thank you so much for your tweets, you're so sweet! xx

  15. I know! With a primer they improve but still. I don't recommend this product at all : /

  16. That's too bad, I really dislike doing negative reviews but when a product is not good there's no other way to say it : /
Thanks for following me Flo, I really like your blog too and I'm also a follower ^^ xx

  18. Aww this is very disappointing to read. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I haven't tried the Undressed Too or the original. I haven't tried any MUA eyeshadows actually. But whenever I read reviews that said things like "you might as well skip the Naked", it made me very skeptical. The colors may be the same, but texture, blendability, color payoff, etc. are SUPER important quality aspects and can't be overlooked just because the colors look the same. It's just not possible to use the same quality ingredients and charge so little for these paletted. I'm glad you did this review because I definitely won't be purchasing any MUA eyeshadows. I am quite surprised by the quality of their lipsticks considering they cost 1 pound, but I thought their blushes and face powders were... well, crap :/ I'd rather pay a few dollars more for NYX or Milani.
Anyways, thanks for your honesty :) And the swatches look very nice (although you went through a lot of trouble for that).

  20. I would also have suspected if I owned any UD shadows but since I don't I thought this palette would be a "more affordable" alternative and I was beyond wrong. I totally agree, I'd rather pay a bit more and know that what I'm getting is of better quality. I do have other MUA products (lip balms and glitter liners) and they're actually very nice; this brand just doesn't make good eyeshadows, at least the ones from this palette : / Like I replied a few comments down, I was more disappointed at bloggers doing "false" reviews than at the product itself because all things given, I can always use a primer and somewhat make the palette work (not true for some colours that are unbelievably unblendable : /). Honeslty, where do we go for true, unbiased reviews if everyone is after free stuff these days? It's so sad, this world of blogging is turining into one hot mess where everything and everyone is sponsored, one way or another, again, so sad.

  21. I don't like anything I've tried from mua, there's so much hype around the lipsticks too, they're horrible! I bought 5 and don't like any! X

  23. Hmmm i doubt if ill trust ur judgement as a reviewer anymore.ive used this palette n its ah-mazing..barring the matte cream n brown shades all of them r so so pigmented..and about the custome service.Mua has always promptly replied my tickets n that is the correct way of contacting them.drop a ticket instead of a mail n they reply real soon. Ive had far terrible customer service experience with sleek where they dont reply tickets, mails ot tweets! And yes im just a reader who has used this palette n i heartily disagree with ur review
